KOKO is an international technology company that stands out for its commitment to the environment. It is a global leader in clean ethanol cooking fuel and cooking products. In Sub-Saharan Africa, cooking fuels are a double problem for global warming. Tropical forests and savannah forests are destroyed to provide charcoal and firewood, eliminating an invaluable carbon sink. In addition, kitchen fires produce toxic smoke that pollutes the air and makes millions of Africans sick.

To solve this double problem, Greg Murray and three other co-founders created Koko Networks in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. Today, the company provides clean-burning ethanol to over 675,000 households through stoves sold on an application. Koko's long-term goal is to expand its activity to about 60 countries in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. The first country targeted was Rwanda, where the government agreed to waive value-added taxes and import duties on fuel and stoves to keep prices low.
